The social network we all know and love, Pinterest, has revolutionized the DIY (do it yourself) wedding. On the site is not only endless choices of craft ideas, but also infinite pins of dresses, decor, color schemes, ideas for bridal showers, bachelorette parties, receptions, photography, everything. Pinterest is a fantastic outlet for sharing and discovering new ideas. It is a convenient way to find and share “(p)inspiration” and the crafts can end up saving you a lot of money. Because of this great pool of choices, it’s incredibly easy for a bride-to-be to become incredibly overwhelmed. I’ve compiled some tips to prevent this from happening.
- Craft in moderation. Yes, the crafts are adorable and cute. Yes, burlap can be used in an elegant fashion and mason jars are rustically irresistible, but don’t let these trends take over the theme of your wedding. If you are especially talented at crafting then go right ahead, but if you’re anything like me, crafts sound like a great idea but in reality they look as if a kindergardener finger-painted on a thrifted stool. My advice is limit yourself to three crafty elements into which you can put your heart and soul.
- Plan ahead. Note that you’re going to be very busy planning this wedding. Make sure you factor in all the crafting you want instead of making everything last minute and it turning out to be the opposite of what you had envisioned.
- Last of all: Stay original. There are so many adorable ideas on Pinterest, but there’s also a lot of brides using these ideas. Stay true to yourself and your personality. Example: If you’ve never touched a Mason jar in your life, I’d say refrain from using them in your decor.
I hope these tips have helped you in crafting your ideal “Pinterest wedding”. I wish you the happiest of weddings. Best of luck to you!
